International Youth Meeting of Friends of Protected Islands to be held on September 19-23 in Khakassia

The International Youth Meeting of Friends of Protected Islands will be held on September 19 to 23 2017 in the Republic of Khakassia, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Russian reserve system. The event was organized by the Ecological Education Center Zapovedniki and the Khakassia State Nature Reserve with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Khakassia.
The meeting of the friends of the protected islands is aimed at attracting the attention of society to the important role of reserves and national parks in the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of our country. It is expected that the meeting will be participated by about 300 representatives of children's and youth organizations, initiative groups and their adult mentors. These are schoolchildren and young people, united in groups supporting nature reserves, national and natural parks, and other reserved islands, teams of young naturalists and local historians, young biologists and ecologists, young eco-journalists and members of environmental theaters, young people who are keen on new technologies that can serve nature. Along with the Russian participants, guests from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Uzbekistan will come to the meeting.
Within the framework of the five-day event, participants will take part in volunteer activities, interactive Eco-lessons and master classes, get acquainted with the nature and culture of Khakassia.
