The application for the national award in the field of ecology and geography “Crystal Compass” was launched. Nominees can be citizens of the Russian Federation and other countries, creative unions, domestic and foreign organizations and enterprises that have implemented projects in the field of geography and ecology, preservation and promotion of natural and historical and cultural heritage in 2017.

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan announces the start of the republican contest “ECOleader”. The most eco-friendly enterprises and educational institutions are invited to participate – whose task is to teach how to take care of nature, public figures who are not indifferent to environmental problems and, of course, journalists who during the year became real assistants to inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology of Tatarstan.

Within the framework of the Year of Ecology and the 100th anniversary of the Russian system of protected areas, an exhibition of natural photography “National Park “Lower Kama” was opened at the Kazan International Airport. 50 photos, reflecting unique landscapes, rare and characteristic representatives of the flora and fauna of the reserve are presented at the Terminal 1A. The authors of the photographs are employees and friends of the national park.
International Conference “Underground Waters – 2017” will be held on November 23-25, 2017 in Yessentuki. The event is organised by the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, the International Association of Hydrogeologists, the Geological Center of St. Petersburg State University, the Eurasian Union of Subsoil Use Experts.
The conference will be attended by representatives of the government authorities of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the heads of large companies - subsoil users, scientific and scientific-production hydrogeological organizations, leading Russian geologists and foreign specialists.
Within the framework of the Year of Ecology, the All-Russian children's drawings contest “Nature of the native land” was announced, which aims to awaken children's interest in environmental issues and attract the attention of people to the ecological condition of their native land. Economic activities of organizations and maintenance of specially protected areas. The regional environmental conference dedicated to the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces in the Republic of Tatarstan was held in Naberezhnye Chelny. Representatives of government bodies and nature protection agencies gathered in the Museum of Ecology and Conservation of Nature to discuss legal problems of rational nature management. The main topic of the conference was the issue of compliance of enterprises of the Prikamsky region with legislative requirements for environmental protection.
Fresh water consumption reduced and water disposal system improved. Sewage treatment facilities have been renovated at Naberezhnye Chelny cardboard and paper mill. The treatment method introduced here is based on the use of microorganisms. Bacteria grown in reservoirs eat organic matter, contained in sewage. Thus, harmful impurities and constituents are removed from plant water. Treated water is discharged or returned to production cycle.
