On August 21-22 in Moscow, the central exhibition hall “Manezh” will host the Climate Forum of Russian cities, organized by the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of Moscow. Heads of ministries and departments of Russia and the subjects of the country, representatives of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, the World Health Organization, representatives of the German company specializing in the introduction of the best available technologies, leading international and Russian scientists will take part in the event.
The main themes of the discussion in the business program will be global climate trends, climate change, causes and consequences of climate change, modern climate models and their quality assessment, energy evolution and energy efficiency as key factors in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Participants will get acquainted with the climate initiatives, experience and plans of Moscow, the subjects of Russia, and foreign cities. Guests of the forum will discuss the formats of interaction between business and society in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, role and social responsibility of business, opportunities for private-public partnership to achieve the objectives of territories (regions, cities) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other project financing mechanisms, as well as opportunities for minimization of impact of transport, metallurgy, energy, agro-industrial complex, petrochemical sector on climate and human health. Within the framework of the event, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation will conduct a coach-session on the inventory of emissions and removals of greenhouse gases. The session will include practical methods of applying regulatory legal acts on the inventory of greenhouse gases at the level of the enterprise and the region. Also, there will be an exhibition of climate-relevant projects, programs and activities aimed at improving the energy efficiency of various sectors of the economy and municipal services, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, introducing renewable energy sources, developing forestry, etc.
