Farid Abdulganiev: “Public safety is in priority”. Tatarstan continues activities on prevention of threats during high water

4 August 2017, Friday

Today Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev got acquainted with the course of work on the overhaul of the hydraulic structure in the village of Morty, which was found in an emergency condition, and the work on cleaning and channeling on the Tanaika River near the village Kolosovka of Elabuga municipal district. Socially significant facilities, gas pipeline, power lines, roads – all this during the spring flood can appear under water. But the most important task, according to the Minister, is to ensure the safety of settlements residents: “In Tatarstan, works are under way to clean up and straighten river beds and overhaul hydraulic engineering structures. The programs are financed both from the republican and federal budgets. There are positive examples in Tetyush and Laishevo municipal districts. In the Elabuga district, today significant work is being done at two sites: a major overhaul of a hydraulic structure in the village of Morty and cleaning and channeling on the Tanaika River near the Kolosovka settlement. First of all, these are the areas where the safety of our citizens is under threat, where residential areas are in the flood zone. There are 500 households with more than a thousand people may suffer in the period of flood in these villages. And according to the Ministry of Emergencies, there is a site to collect water in emergency. So, both for the people good conditions are provided, and, most importantly, risks are avoided. If we do not take measures today, the damage can amount to more than 200 million rubles.”
In the village of Morty the tubular drainage of the hydraulic structure and the spillway shaft have been repaired, and the earth dam have been rebuilt. In the village of Kolosovka, the length of the cleaned channel is 4347 meters.
