3 criminal cases were initiated this year over illegal extraction on water. The offenders were held liable under Article 171, part 1, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Carrying out of entrepreneurial activity without registration or without a license in cases when such a license is obligatory, if such an act inflicted a large damage on citizens, organizations or the state, or if it involved extraction of large revenue”). Total damage in terms of criminal cases amounted to 6,568,698 rubles. Specialists of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan regularly inspect water areas of the Volga and the Kama rivers. Currently, 59 deposits of mineral resources have been inspected in the water area of the Kuybyshev Reservoir, and 10 violations have so far been detected.

As a reminder, an agreement on cooperation was concluded in 2016 together with the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan.Together with fellow workers of the KazanLine Control under the Department of Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Economic Crimes Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan, they carry out raids on water, at the coastal area, as well as overflights, and night raids have also been arranged in order to efficiently prevent violations. A favorable tendency towards a decrease in the number of violations during extraction of common mineral resources on water has been observed following the results of the carried out work.
