An ECO-campaign was held in Chistopol

7 June 2016, Tuesday

Students of the Branch of the Kazan Federal University in Chistopol held an ecological campaign devoted to the World Environment Protection Day in an attempt to advocate careful attitude to nature. Young people cleaned the territory of the coastal area of the Kama River from litter and explained to the citizens the importance of taking care of nature. The event was organized under the auspices of the Volga-Kama Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. "Every time we leave litter at recreation places: in parks, on a shore or in a forest, we should remember that the period of degradation of food waste makes up about 30 days, a stub of a cigarette - from 5 to 15 years, a tin can - up to 90 years, a simple PE bag - 100 years, a plastic bottle - up to 400 years, a glass bottle - more than 1 thousand years, and we would like for the people to pay attention to that", said participants of the campaign.

The efforts of active participants elicited great response from citizens and guests of the city who supported the event carried out by the Branch of the KFU with great enthusiasm. The students hope to diminish the scale of environmental pollution (parks, forests, coastlines and beaches) by promoting ecological awareness of those who like to spend their free time outdoors through illustrative propaganda, which is especially relevant during the summertime.
