Tons of construction waste instead of green grass Ecological specialists revealed a landfillthat inflicted the damage on the environment in the amount of several million rubles.

An inconspicuous, quiet place on Rakhimova str. in Moscovsky district of Kazan. It is its solitude that attracted attention of the organizers of an illegal landfill. Tons of construction waste were located on the territory of 22 thousand square meters in area. It was the offender who helped identify the unauthorized waste placement site. In the course of a night raid, a KAMAZ truck loaded with waste attracted attention of inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology - it was leaving the territory of a nonfunctional tramway depot in Aviastroitelny district. After following it, ecological specialists found out that the waste was stored illegally. "Together with fellow workers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan, it was arrested, and now an administrative investigation is held to identify all the persons involved in the crime", informed Head of the State Inspection of Ecological Surveillance under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Almaz Zakirov. It emerged that the machinery arrested in the course of the night raid belongs to the Construction Company "Il-Khamet" LLC. According to Zakirov, the damage inflicted on the environment is now being estimated: "Considering the scale, the damage is likely to amount to several millions". The offender will be held liable according to Article 8.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation  "Failure to comply with ecological and sanitary&epidemiological requirements in the course of management of production and consumption waste, the substances destroying the ozone layer, as well as other hazardous substances". A fine to be imposed on legal entities - up to two hundred and fifty thousand rubles. A law suit is now being elaborated to compel the offender to correct the breach and put the territory in proper order.
