Positions of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation were taken into consideration in the course of elaboration of the key documents for the upcoming 8th Ministerial Conference‘Environment of Europe”

The drafts of all the final documents of the Conference elaborated with support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Agency were approved of following the results of the special preparatory session of the Environment Policy Committeeunder the UN ECE held in Geneva.The Conference will be held on June 8-10, 2016 in Batumi (Georgia). It is the main nature protection pan-European high-class event.

In particular, the draft Ministerial Declaration of the 8th Ministerial Conference“Environment of Europe”, the Framework strategy on “green” economy development and the Plan of action regarding protection of the air from pollution elaborated with support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Agency were approved of in the course of the preparatory session. Bodies of the documents in Russian will be placed on the website of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE).The draft Framework strategy on “green” economy development is destined to become one of the key documents to be adopted at the upcoming Conference. It is designed in compliance with the priorities and aims of sustainable development for the whole period up to 2030 approved of by all member states of the UN. In such a way, adherence to the right of every state to choose the optimal modernization model will be acknowledged, as well as the right to determine the mechanisms for achievement of eco-friendly development depending on the national peculiarities and capabilities, as informs the press service of theMinistry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation.
