Ecological specialists detected discharge of waste watersinto Lake Kaban

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan received an address from citizens of Kazan regarding discharge of polluted waste waters into Nizhny Kaban. Inspectors of the Central Territorial Department andexperts of the Central Specialized Inspection for Analytical Control under the Ministry of Ecologyvisited the scene together with representatives of Kazan Nature Protection Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Kazan Executive Committeeto detect discharge of waste waters from Kazan storm drainage. Experts of the Central Specialized Inspection for Analytical Control under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan drew samples of waste and natural waters, following the results whereof the damage inflicted on the water facility will be estimated. Inspectors of the Ministry of Ecology inspected 992 vehicles together with the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan and the interregional territorial Directorate of Rostransnadzor for the Volga Federal District as part of Operation Clean Air, which started on June 1 and will last until September 30.
From July 4 to August 3, Kazan will host the city laboratory "Citizen Scientist", which has already become an annual event. This is a series of educational classes about the ecology of the city and the river. The practical classes will take place for a whole month and their main purpose is the exchange of knowledge between environmentalists, scientists and residents.
Violation of subsoil use terms was revealed by environmentalists at the Kuperbashskoye field. According to the results of the survey of the territory and further monitoring of vehicles, inspectors of the Northern Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology managed to establish the fact of the export of overburden rocks (rocks covering mineral deposits) outside the license area.
From June 22 to June 28, the automatic air pollution control stations in Kazan recorded exceedances of the maximum permissible concentrations of pollutants in the atmospheric air.
