“ECO-Patrol” will be working in Tatarstan starting from September 1

The contest “School eco-patrol” is to start from September 1, 2014 in educational establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event is aimed at engagement of pupils of the Republic in practical work regarding sanitary cleaning. The project was developed by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, and it was presented today during the plenary sitting of the August meeting of the fellow workers in education and science fields that was held in the urban-type settlement Bogatye Saby.The idea of the contest lies in the fact that each pupil with a mobile phone would be able to register landfills during non-study time and send them to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan through a filter of the call center of the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan, where statistics will be formed with regard to each pupil, class, school and municipality.The contest will be held during the whole school year.
The most active pupils who made the biggest amountof pictures of landfills will be awarded at the end of the school-year with valuable prizes. The application “School eco-patrol” was developed for IOSandAndroid-based mobile phones.
The contest will be of great educational importance, and it will also help the nature protection authoritiesto reveal the sites of unauthorized waste placement and liquidate them.
Surveillance measures will be taken by nature protection authorities with regard to each landfill, and each pupil will be informed on the liquidation of a landfill with attachment of a picture.
Inspectors of the Central Department, together with representatives of the Kazan Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor's Office and the Office of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of the Republic of Tatarstan, conducted a survey of the territory of the Zelenodolsk district.
The events were held in the Zainsky district. The commission included inspectors from the Zakamsky Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan received an appeal from residents about violations of environmental legislation in the Yelabuga district. Inspectors from the Kama Department went to the site and confirmed the fact of dumping production and consumption waste into the territory of the Bug River water protection zone.
