Maxim Korolkov: "Tatarstan has experience in water management that can be passed on"
A panel session was held within the framework of the Ecological Congress "Water of Russia", which is taking place these days in Naberezhnye Chelny.
Maxim Korolkov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, noted that our country has the largest reserves of fresh water and unique water bodies.
"Today we are going to exchange practices on how to comprehensively approach water management. Different regions from different corners share their experiences and our task is to bring together the best practices. Tatarstan has long implemented an integrated approach. The republic has experience that can be passed on," Maxim Korolkov said.
The Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, Azat Ziganshin, shared Tatarstan's experience in preserving water bodies. Over eight years, the republic has implemented more than 1,300 environmental protection measures worth almost 107 billion rubles. It was possible to prevent environmental damage by 117 billion rubles and improve the quality of life for 3.5 million residents.
In his report, the head of the department told how the republic implemented the national project "Ecology" and what tasks it sets itself within the framework of the new national project "Environmental well-being".
"Since 2019, 30 large-scale events have been implemented in Tatarstan as part of the national Ecology project. They covered 6 federal projects, and the total amount of funding amounted to 21.6 billion rubles," said Azat Ziganshin.
Eight environmental initiatives are already planned as part of the new national Environmental Well-being project. The total amount of financing is almost 3 billion rubles. The lion's share is allocated to work on the federal project "Water of Russia".
As part of this project, active work has been underway since 2025 to clear the Melekeski River in Naberezhnye Chelny. A working meeting was held there today with the participation of Maxim Korolkov, Deputy Minister of Nature of the Russian Federation. The ecological rehabilitation of the Chelna River has also been agreed upon for the 400th anniversary of the Motor City.
At the end of the speech, Azat Ziganshin invited everyone to tomorrow's clean-up day and the solemn start of the All-Russian campaign "Water of Russia".
