Maxim Korolkov highly appreciated the clearing of the Melekeski River in Naberezhnye Chelny
Within the framework of the All-Russian Congress "Water of Russia", a working meeting was held on the Melekeska River with the participation of Maxim Korolkov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation. The implementation of the second stage of ecorehabilitation of the river within the framework of the federal project "Water of Russia" of the national project "Ecological Well-being" was discussed.
The meeting was attended by Nail Magdeev, Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny, Azat Ziganshin, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan, and Alexander Shadrikov, Director of the Department of Water Resources. The participants assessed the current pace of work, the removal of sediments and plans for the next stages.
"It is important that an integrated approach is applied to the country's rivers and reservoirs: not only we clean up the silt, but also we improve the banks, turning the embankments into favorite places for residents," Maxim Korolkov emphasized.
He also noted the interim results of the clearing of Melekeska: "Melekeska is in the middle of the road. The 2025 plan has been completed, 2026 is on schedule, and funding has been secured in 2027. It has turned from an overgrown river into a full—fledged river - we see a serious result."
Tatarstan's Minister of Ecology Azat Ziganshin thanked colleagues from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation for supporting measures to preserve water bodies and for organizing the All-Russian Congress in Naberezhnye Chelny. "I would like to thank our colleagues for initiating this event, where we gathered with colleagues from 40 regions," he said. — There will be a unique opportunity to discuss all the accumulated issues related to water use. I believe and hope that this will form the basis for further work."
Azat Ziganshin also said that documents have been prepared for the clearing of the Chelna River. "We have a high chance of being included in the federal program — 21 points, which is above average. We will work to put the project into operation and receive funding," the minister said.
To date, the readiness to clear Melekeski is 29%. In total, 3.1 km of the riverbed will have to be cleared and 321.6 thousand cubic meters of sediments will have to be removed by 2027. Financing of the project from the federal budget is 318.6 million rubles.
