Almaz Tugushev, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, spoke at a briefing on spring flood preparedness in the Republic of Tatarstan about the Ministry's participation in the activities of the Interdepartmental Working Group (IWG) on regulating the operation of reservoirs in the Volga-Kama Cascade (VCC).

In 2026, three IWG meetings were held, the last one on March 6. As a result, the modes of the waterworks were approved from March 11 to April 10. Discharge rates are set at 6300 - 6500 cubic meters per second.

According to the Russian Hydrometeorological Service, as of March 10, the water reserves in the snow of the Volga-Kama Cascade basin are 159 mm (139% of the norm).

To date, the water level near the village of Verkhny Uslon is 51 meters according to the Baltic Sea system.

Forecast for April 5: 50.8 m BS. The beginning of filling is the first decade of April.

As of March 17, the free capacity of the Kuibyshev reservoir is 11.96 km3, and by April 5 it is 12.48 km3.

The next meeting of the IWG is scheduled for April 8-9 (after the forecast of Roshydromet for the second quarter). The Ministry conducts daily monitoring of reservoir levels and is ready to promptly regulate discharges together with Rosvodresursami.
