The implementation of the second stage of the Melekeski River environmental rehabilitation project within the framework of the federal project "Water of Russia" of the national project "Environmental Well-being" continues in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny. Ilnur Nasretdinov, Deputy Minister of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan, inspected the progress of the measures.

In 2026, work is planned at the facility on cutting and uprooting shrubs, building temporary roads, forming a site for alluvial maps, excavating bottom soil and, finally, releasing aquatic biological resources. The contractor for the work under the state contract is LLC Yadran-Stroy, which uses a hydro-mechanical technology for cleaning the riverbed, which makes it possible to effectively remove sediments and restore the natural characteristics of the water body.

The first stage of environmental rehabilitation of the Melekeski River was successfully completed in 2022, when specialists cleared a 1.5 km section of the riverbed in the Nizhnekamsk reservoir back-up area.

The project is aimed at improving the ecological condition of the river, restoring its natural ecosystem and improving the quality of water resources in the city.
