Today, Tatspirtprom and the Pyaterochka and Perekrestok retail chains have signed a trilateral agreement on joint support for the scientific program of the Snow Leopard Center for the Conservation of Biological Diversity to study and restore the snow leopard population in the Altai Republic.
This project is being implemented on behalf of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan and is aimed at intensifying scientific research of the unique predator listed in the Red Book, as well as comprehensive measures to preserve and increase its numbers in the wild.
Ruslan Maksudov, General Director of Tatspirtprom, noted that financial support will be directed to the development of the Center's infrastructure, the purchase of feed, the modernization of aviaries, the purchase of laboratory, veterinary and monitoring equipment, specialized drugs, as well as to ensure the transportation of animals.
"The project "Let's keep snow leopards in Altai together" is important not only for the Russian scientific community, but also for all countries of the habitat of this rare animal species. We combine the efforts of business and society. Altai is a place of strength, and together we are a great force that can cope with this task," Maksudov emphasized.
Vladislav Kurbatov, Managing Director of the Pyaterochka retail chain, expressed confidence that the conservation of the snow leopard is a contribution not only to the protection of an endangered species, but also to the sustainability of mountain ecosystems, on which the well-being of future generations depends.
"By combining the efforts of the state, business and science, we contribute to the preservation of Russia's unique nature and form a responsible attitude of society towards environmental issues. For us, this is not a one-time initiative, but part of a systematic effort towards sustainable development," Kurbatov said.
Vyacheslav Dolgov, Director of the Snow Leopard Research Center, noted: "The snow leopard is a symbol of Tatarstan. On behalf of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, a unique scientific center, a genetic bank and a nursery for breeding snow leopards have been created in Altai with the main goal of restoring their population in the wild. A lot of hard work awaits us, and we believe that with the support of our partners we will be able to achieve our goals," Dolgov stressed.
