The total mass of atmospheric emissions from stationary sources in Nizhnekamsk and Nizhnekamsk region has decreased by more than 41% since 2006. This was announced by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Azat Ziganshin, at a working meeting on environmental issues, which was held in Nizhnekamsk.
"In recent years, we have seen a large-scale decrease in the number of complaints from citizens related to air pollution. Since 2018, the number of requests has decreased 145 times," the minister stressed.
Azat Ziganshin noted that Nizhnekamsk is a powerful industrial hub not only in Tatarstan, but also in Russia. "The 116 enterprises on the territory of the industrial hub represent 116 points of growth, responsibility and attention to environmental issues. Joint efforts have allowed us to achieve significant results," he said.
The Minister also thanked the city—forming enterprises - PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim, JSC TANECO and JSC TAIF—NK - for their responsible approach and systematic work on environmental protection, noting their large-scale investments in environmental projects.
The development of the environmental monitoring system was also discussed at the meeting. A territorial monitoring system operates in Nizhnekamsk, one of the first cities in Russia where consolidated calculations of air pollution began. Monitoring is carried out using five automatic stations of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan. Thanks to the agreements, data from 10 automatic stations of large companies is sent to the Ministry online.
Another important topic of the meeting was environmental education. It will be based on the best initiatives from all educational institutions of the city. The participants also noted the successful experience of installing plastic collection fandoms in schools with the support of SIBUR and working together on landscaping and stocking reservoirs. It should be recalled that environmental education of young people contributes to the achievement of the goals of the national project "Youth and Children".
