The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan promptly responded to an appeal from residents about possible contamination of the Noksa River in Kazan.
The Ministry's state inspectors, together with specialists from the Central Department for Environmental Supervision, conducted an unscheduled on-site inspection. To ensure maximum openness and promptness, the residents themselves took part in the inspection, who filed a complaint with the agency. During the inspection of the river section in the area of house No. 62a on Yafrakly Street, a sewage discharge pipe was discovered. Although there was no active discharge at the time of the inspection, obvious traces of previously performed wastewater discharge were visually recorded.
To obtain objective data, the inspectors took samples of natural water from the Knoksa River above and below (by 20 meters) the location of the pipe, as well as liquid residues from the pipe itself were taken for analysis.
All samples have been submitted for laboratory testing. At the same time, the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan sent an official request to the Executive Committee of Kazan to identify the organization or person responsible for the operation of this pipe (the balance holder).
