The release took place in the area of the Arakchino residential area (Kirovsky district of Kazan) with the approval of Rosrybolovstvo. The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Geographical Society, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, VNIRO, Kazanorgsintez employees, schoolchildren, mass media and bloggers.
Almaz Tugushev, Deputy Minister of Ecology, noted that unlike mandatory compensation measures, SIBUR's campaign is a voluntary initiative. He emphasized the company's active environmental position and its contribution to the preservation of the natural resources of the region and the country.
The fry were released into the water by students of school No. 64 and Lyceum No. 188 "Bionics". According to Alexander Zhalyuk, Head of Ecology at Kazanorgsintez, the company protects nature by releasing fish, planting trees and reviving populations of rare birds — this is a real celebration for all participants.
Sterlet fry were grown at the Biosphere Fish fish hatchery and reached the optimal weight for release - more than 3 grams. Before transportation, the fish was carefully examined and all certificates were issued. The transport took place in a specialized car.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with Kazanorgsintez, the A. I. Shchepovskikh Regional Public Foundation. and the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan. Andrey Agarkov, Executive Director of the Foundation, stressed the importance of children's participation and the need to take care of nature in order to preserve fragile ecosystems.
Dmitry Shiller, chairman of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, noted that such campaigns are a manifestation of responsibility and love for the Volga.
