Environmentalists took part in comprehensive oil spill response exercises
Comprehensive oil spill response exercises were held in Almetyevsk and Nizhnekamsk districts. The commission included inspectors from the Southeastern and Zakamsky departments of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The first exercise was held in the Almetyevsk region on the basis of the Berket-Klyuchevsky oil field. According to legend, there was a spill of 4,650 cubic meters of petroleum products here.
The specialists of the Okhtin-Oil closed joint stock company, together with professional rescuers from RegionSpas, demonstrated a high level of readiness. The participants promptly organized a response headquarters, used modern technologies to localize the collection of petroleum products, and also ensured effective interaction with emergency services.
As a result of the inspection, high readiness and sufficient forces and resources were confirmed to eliminate the maximum estimated volume of oil spill at the facility.
In the village of Nizhnyaya Uratma, conditions were no less difficult. On the territory of the Nizhne-Uratminskoye oil field, depressurization of the oil tank occurred as a result of wear. According to the exercise scenario, there was a spill of 200 cubic meters of petroleum products. There is a real threat of contamination of the territory of the Transoil Limited Liability Company.
The participants promptly conducted an exploration, determined the boundaries and volumes of the spill, and then took measures to localize and prevent further spread of petroleum products.
As a result of both exercises, the conditional spills were completely eliminated, and the actions of the participants were assessed satisfactorily.
