Tatarstan has managed to achieve a significant reduction in emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere while increasing industrial production, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Shadrikov said today at a joint visiting meeting of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan on Ecology, Nature Management, Agro-industrial and Food Policy in Kazan.
"With a 3.1-fold increase in GRP at comparable prices over the past 30 years, emissions of pollutants have decreased by 25.6%," said Alexander Shadrikov.
According to the agency, since 1991, emissions from mobile sources have decreased by 77%, primarily due to the replacement of cars of low environmental classes with cars of Euro-4 and higher classes.
"Emissions from stationary sources decreased by 45.1% over the same period," said the Head of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The Minister of Ecology explained that this positive trend is ensured by the constant modernization and introduction of the latest technological equipment, the implementation of air protection measures by enterprises and the transition of industry, energy and transport to environmentally friendly fuels.
"Since 2013, the republic has been implementing the state program "Development of the gas engine fuel market," the minister recalled. "Enterprises and organizations that purchase new gas-powered cars and convert old ones to gas are compensated for their expenses from the federal and republican budgets."
Special attention in the republic is paid to the quality of motor fuel. According to the minister, fuel quality checks are carried out annually at the gas station, and in 2024 there were no discrepancies in the sulfur content in the samples.
"In addition to improving the characteristics of transport and fuel itself, an important factor for improving the quality of atmospheric air is the development of road infrastructure," Shadrikov stressed.
According to him, the construction of interchanges and new outbound highways makes it possible to increase the average speed of transport and the intensity of traffic, which reduces emissions of pollutants from cars.
All these measures, as the minister noted, correspond to the goals of the national project "Environmental well-being" and allow Tatarstan to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental safety.
