Tomorrow the whole country will celebrate the Great Victory Day! Today in our section we recall private Yakov Gorshkov from the Buinsky district

8 May 2025, Thursday

Tomorrow, the country will celebrate the main holiday - Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. We continue the traditional heading "We remember your names...", dedicated to the Year of Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of Victory.

Pavel Gorshkov is telling a poem and his family story today. His great-great-grandfather, Yakov Alexandrovich Gorshkov, was born on October 30, 1907 in the Buinsky district of the Tatar ASSR. Yakov Alexandrovich fought on the Volkhov front as a private of the 848th Infantry Regiment of the 267th Infantry Division. For his valour and bravery, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree.

In January 1942, Yakov Alexandrovich was wounded and sent to the rear. He returned to the Buinsky district and began working on his native collective farm in the village of Mokraya Savaleevka. Yakov Alexandrovich lived a long life and died in 1990, at the age of 82.

We are proud of our heroes and grateful to each of them for the feat accomplished for the sake of future generations. Eternal glory!
