On January 1, the federal project "Water of Russia" was launched as part of the national project "Environmental well-being". This project, implemented by the Federal Agency for Water Resources, sets an ambitious goal: to improve the living conditions for more than 23 million people living near water bodies by 2030. Water of Russia combines the tasks of ecological rehabilitation of water bodies from the previously completed projects "Rehabilitation of the Volga" and "Preservation of unique water bodies", expanding the geography and scale of work.
The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan is actively involved in the implementation of the federal project "Water of Russia". In the direction of "Improving the ecological condition of the hydrographic network (watercourses, reservoirs)", 2 rivers are planned to be cleared.
In the direction of "Elimination (reclamation) of objects of accumulated environmental damage that pose a threat to the Volga River" in 2025, it is planned to complete work on the reclamation of silt fields of biological treatment facilities in Kazan.
In the direction of "Reducing the volume of contaminated wastewater entering water bodies" (construction, reconstruction of sewage treatment plants), the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation are working on the inclusion of facilities for the construction (reconstruction) of sewage treatment plants and storm sewers of the Republic of Tatarstan (a list of 17 facilities has been sent in advance: Kazan, Buinsk, Zainsk, Zelenodolsk, Kukmor, Laishevo, Menzelinsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Kamskoye Ustye village, Kamskie Polyany village of Nizhnekamsk municipal district, Urussu village of Utazinsky municipal district, Aktanysh village, Muslyumovo village).
These events will not only improve the ecological situation, but also increase the recreational potential of the region, making outdoor recreation more comfortable and safer for residents and guests of the republic.

The federal project "Water of Russia" includes a wide range of activities:
* River clearing: The project provides for the clearing of 1,065 km of rivers throughout the country, including in Tatarstan. The Republic has planned:
- clearing of the second section of the Melekeska River in Naberezhnye Chelny (2.6 km), the implementation period is 2025-2027.
- clearing of the riverbed of the Knoksa River with tributaries in Kazan (23.2 km), the implementation period is 2028-2030.
* Improvement of lakes and reservoirs: It is planned to improve the ecological condition of more than 36,000 hectares of lakes and reservoirs in 30 regions of Russia.
* Construction and reconstruction of reservoirs: Construction and reconstruction of reservoirs are planned in water-deficient regions.
* Improvement of coastal areas: The improvement of water bodies will be synchronized with the improvement of adjacent territories within the framework of the federal project "Creating a comfortable urban environment".
* Instrumental control: Since 2025, an assessment of the performance of work on the clearance of water bodies using modern equipment will be carried out.
Implementation of the federal project "Water of Russia" within the framework of the national project "Ecological well-being"will ensure significant progress in improving the environmental situation and improving the quality of life of the population.
