"I inherited the care of nature." The staff of the Ministry of Ecology says goodbye and remembers Boris Germanovich Petrov

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Boris Germanovich Petrov. His life of service to the environment and Russia left an indelible mark in the hearts of colleagues, friends and relatives.
 
 Boris Germanovich was born on April 25, 1956 in Kazan, in a family of geographers and hydrologists. His childhood, spent traveling in Tatarstan and Mari El, brought up in him a love of nature and firmness of character, became the foundation of his future career. The influence of his parents, especially his father, the head of the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, determined his professional path. As Boris Germanovich himself said, "I inherited the care of nature."  
 After graduating from university in 1978, Boris Germanovich devoted himself to public service. For more than 30 years, he worked for the benefit of the country's environmental safety, holding responsible positions: from senior engineer of the Kazan Hydrogeological and Reclamation Party to Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Each stage of his career is marked by high professionalism and inexhaustible energy. It was he who continued the reorganization of the environmental industry in 2001, created new services in the Ministry and began to introduce the first software products and information systems in the field of supervision.

Boris Germanovich devoted himself to his work completely, without reserve. In an interview, he answered a question about his success as follows: "It seems to me that you just need not to lose the fuse that you had from your youth, then it will be interesting to live. And don't be afraid to ask questions if you don't know something. The desire to move forward is probably what helps me achieve something."


 Boris Germanovich Petrov was a recognized authority in the field of environmental safety, a well-deserved holder of numerous honorary titles. He is the author of more than 160 scientific publications and several books on ecology, environmental economics, hydrology and geography. His deep knowledge, analytical mind and integrity were highly appreciated by colleagues and partners. They noted not only his professionalism, but also his sincere kindness to people, willingness to help and support.
 
 In addition to his brilliant career, Boris Germanovich was a loving husband and father of five children. His family was his mainstay and source of inspiration.
 
 The bright memory of Boris Germanovich Petrov, a wonderful man and an outstanding specialist, will forever remain in our hearts.
