The international forum "Baltic Sea Day", which opened today in Kronstadt, brought together about 700 participants from seven countries. The event was attended by representatives from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Finland, Greece and Myanmar.
The forum hosts round tables, panel sessions and seminars. At the session dedicated to the national project "Ecology", the Minister of Ecology of Tatarstan spoke today via video conference. Alexander Shadrikov shared Tatarstan's experience in eco-rehabilitation and conservation of water bodies and spoke about the results of 6 years of work within the framework of the national project "Ecology".
At the very beginning of his speech, the head of the Ministry of Ecology thanked the organizers for the opportunity to participate in the forum, where you can learn from the best practices of colleagues. Alexander Shadrikov said that Tatarstan pays the most serious attention to environmental issues.
"Since 2014 alone, about 100 measures have been carried out within the framework of the republican program for the construction or modernization of municipal wastewater treatment plants with a total cost of 2 billion rubles. Since 2021, thanks to the federal project "Improving the Volga" of the national project "Ecology", we have started the reconstruction of biological treatment facilities in Kazan, which are among the top 200 main pollutants of the Volga. The total cost of the work is 7.6 billion rubles. The reconstruction will be completed this year and will allow us to meet the target of reducing the proportion of contaminated wastewater into the Volga River by 3 times," the speaker reported.
He shared Tatarstan's pilot project on the reclamation of silt fields, which is closely linked to the reconstruction of sewage treatment plants, which allows us to comprehensively solve the problem. Let us recall that the silt fields of Tatarstan have accumulated almost 4 million cubic meters of precipitation over an area of 100 hectares over 50 years. Some maps were up to 8.5 meters deep.
Since 2019, on behalf of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Nurgalievich Minnikhanov, preparatory work has been started for the reclamation of silt fields and since 2021, work on reclamation has already started.
In preparation for implementation, 36 proposed remediation technologies were considered. Almost 67% of the work has already been completed at the facility. Such an integrated approach of Tatarstan, as well as a pilot reclamation project, was particularly noted by the moderator of the panel session, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Management and Environmental Protection of St. Petersburg Mikhail Strakhov.
Representatives of the Republic of Karelia, Volgograd and Kaliningrad regions also shared their work experience at the session.
For reference: This year, the event is being held in Kronstadt for the first time. Within the framework of the international forum, during round tables and seminars, experts will discuss the prospects for the development of the national Ecology project, issues of conservation and management of water resources, and the development of the environmental fleet. The participants will pay great attention to scientific research on monitoring the state of the marine environment and aquaculture. The forum is attended by representatives of government authorities, international organizations, the scientific and business community, public organizations from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Myanmar and other countries.
