Anniversary award! Yuri Alexandrovich Gorshkov was awarded the badge "Excellent Student of Nature Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan" today
Today, the anniversary is celebrated by a talented scientist, a great friend of the Ministry of Ecology, ex-director of the Volga-Kama State Reserve Yuri Alexandrovich Gorshkov.
Yuri Alexandrovich was born in Kazan, graduated from the Biology and Soil Faculty of Kazan State University. From 1976 to 1993, he worked his way up from a senior laboratory assistant to a senior researcher at the Kazan Institute of Biology of the Kazan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
Since 1994 and for almost 27 years he has been in charge of the Volga-Kama Nature Reserve. An intellectual, a talented scientist, a tireless field researcher, a democratic leader and just a man with a capital letter - this is how everyone who was lucky enough to work with Yuri Alexandrovich speaks of him. During the years of his leadership, a lot has been done: with the help of GSM trackers, remote monitoring of white-tailed eagles has been established, once-lost beavers have been returned to the reserve, and the protected area has expanded.
Thanks to the research work organized by Yuri Alexandrovich, UNESCO certificates as clusters of the Great Volga-Kama Biosphere Reserve were received by the Raif and Saralinsky sections of the reserve, the state natural complex reserves of regional significance "Sviyazhsky" and "Spassky".
For his outstanding contribution to the management of biosphere reserves in 2009, for the first time in Russia, Yuri Gorshkov was awarded the Michel Batisse Award for Managers of Biosphere Reserves.
In 2017, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Yu. A. Gorshkov was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Ecologist of the Russian Federation".
Today, Yuri Alexandrovich continues to actively participate in the public life of the republic, is a member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The text of the congratulatory telegram signed by the Minister of Ecology reads: "Your whole life is a unique example of dedication and service to the sacred cause.
