Regulation of the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade was discussed via video conference

8 December 2023, Friday

Rosvodresursy held a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the modes of operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade.

The meeting was attended by members of the working group, including representatives of Rosrybolovstvo, Rosmorrechflot, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Roshydromet, Rostechnadzor, JSC SO UES, PJSC RusHydro, JSC Tatenergo and executive authorities of subjects located within the boundaries of the Volga-Kama basin.

Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Almaz Tugushev and a representative of JSC Tatenergo took part in the videoconference meeting from the Republic of Tatarstan.

The issue of establishing the operating modes of the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from 11.12.2023 to 20.01.2024 was discussed.

From November 11 to December 6, due to an increase in the inflow into the reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade, the water level of the Kuibyshev reservoir increased by 35 cm from 50.1 m BS to 50.45 m BS.

Rosvodresursy proposed to extend the operating mode of the Kuibyshev reservoir with an average discharge rate of 4,600±100 cubic meters/s over the period. According to forecast calculations, with this mode of operation, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir will be maintained at levels close to 50.3-50.2 m BS.

The meeting also considered the issue of pre-water treatment of reservoirs next year. Representatives of the subjects reported on the maximum possible marks in reservoirs and the maximum discharge costs through the waterworks of reservoirs, which ensure the safety of the population and the non-flooding of infrastructure facilities. Almaz Tugushev reported on the level marks of the Kuibyshev and Nizhnekamsk reservoirs and discharge costs, which ensure safe passage of high water in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In case of changes in the water management situation, the operating modes of reservoirs will be adjusted.

The established modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs will be published on the official website of Rosvodresursy.
