The project of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan on the reintroduction of the Saker falcon became the winner of the V All-Russian competition of the best environmental practices "Reliable partner – Ecology" in the nomination "The best project in the field of conservation of biological diversity".
The awarding of the winners took place today in Moscow at the site of the MIA "Russia Today" press center. In his opening speech, the Tatarstan project was noted by Konstantin Tsyganov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, as one of the most interesting and relevant projects. Receiving the diploma of the winner, Deputy Minister Olga Manidicheva stressed that the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan traditionally takes part in the competition. "This award was a confirmation for us that our work is appreciated and beneficial. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this project, as well as to the organizers of the All-Russian competition for their appreciation and the opportunity to tell about the work that is currently being carried out in the Republic of Tatarstan. A grant from SIBUR allowed us to do this. The project has become an example of a successful dialogue between government, business, science and society. It was under the close attention of the scientific community, and our volunteers, regional public organizations implemented this project. He wants to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our project, who helped us implement it."
The Deputy Minister noted that such integration, where there is a scientific approach, business involvement, active participation of residents in solving environmental issues, contributes to the implementation of key areas of the national project "Ecology".
Let us recall that the pilot project of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan on the reintroduction of the saker falcon was implemented this year with the scientific support of the scientific community with the involvement of volunteers. The main goal of the project is to revive the population of the red book Saker falcon in our republic. The project last year became the winner of the SIBUR grant competition "Formula of Good Deeds", announced as part of the program of social investments in environmental protection.
The implementation of the project made it possible to increase the population of rare species of falcons, accumulate experience for subsequent similar projects, and also provided prerequisites for the revival of the Volga-Kama Saker falcon population, the last nesting of which was recorded in 1974 on the territory of the Saralinsky section of the Volga-Kama Reserve.
The project of the Ministry of Ecology was also included in the top three projects of the national award in the field of geography, ecology, preservation and popularization of natural and historical and cultural heritage "Crystal Compass".
Let us recall that this is not the first award of the Ministry of Ecology in the framework of the All—Russian competition "Reliable Partner - Ecology". Last year, the project of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan "Ecology at school" became the winner in the nomination "The best educational project in the field of ecology", and the project to improve the ecological state of rivers and reservoirs of the Republic of Tatarstan received a diploma in the nomination "The best promising project and development".
For reference: The competition "Reliable Partner — Ecology" was organized in order to assist federal and regional government authorities in the effective implementation of the National Project "Ecology" in terms of identifying the most successful and effective environmental regional practices and projects for their further replication and scaling throughout the country.
