31 tons of batteries were handed over for recycling by schoolchildren of Tatarstan
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan summed up the results of the next stage of the competition for the collection of spent power sources in the Republic of Tatarstan. In the first half of this year, school students and kindergarten students collected 31,047 kg of batteries. This is almost 3 times more than in the same period last year. All the collected batteries were taken out by the Megalopolysresurs group of companies to their own recycling plant in the city of Chelyabinsk. At the enterprise, non-ferrous metals or their salts are extracted from the active mass by electrolysis. The recycling efficiency of the most common alkaline batteries is 94.4%.
The competition of the Ministry of Ecology for the collection of used batteries continues. All schools and kindergartens of the republic can take part in it. During the collection period, it is necessary to bring the collected batteries to the basic school of your municipality, from there they are picked up by regional operators. There are currently 48 collection points for spent power sources in the Republic of Tatarstan. Let us recall that the campaign to collect spent current sources has been held by the Ministry since 2019. Its goal is to attract children and adults to participate in the process of separate collection of MSW, in environmental campaigns, as well as to increase the environmental literacy of the population in general. During the implementation of the eco-enlightenment project, more than 145 tons of used batteries were collected in Tatarstan.
