Hand over the battery – save the hedgehog! Specialists of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan told the guys from the republican camp "Bonfire" what harm one battery does to nature

27 July 2023, Thursday

Specialists of the Environmental Education Department of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan visited children vacationing at the Bonfire Youth center. Now 75 teenagers are staying in the summer shift of "3D personality". Environmentalists told the children about what campaigns and contests are held by the Ministry of Ecology and how to take part in them. For example, a campaign to collect used batteries. One AA battery thrown into the trash can pollute 20 square meters of soil or 400 liters of water with heavy metals, which is why it is so important to take the batteries to collection points for recycling. An electric power source is a deposit of four substances: manganese, zinc, iron and graphite. At the processing plant, not only new batteries are made from these substances, but also dental cement, electric motor brushes, pencils and cutlery. Now there are 48 collection points for used batteries in the Republic of Tatarstan. All addresses can be found in the territorial offices of our Ministry.

Our specialists also introduced schoolchildren to the Ministry of Ecology competitions – this is the "School Eco-patrol", the competition of young naturalists, "Eco-spring" and much more. All the guys were encouraged to participate more actively in the campaigns, because being an eco-activist is simple and exciting!
