Regulation of operating modes of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade was discussed via videoconference

9 June 2023, Friday

Federal Water Resources Agency held a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group on regulating the modes of operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade.

The meeting was attended by members of the working group, including representatives of Rosrybolovstvo, Rosmorrechflot, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Roshydromet, JSC "SO UES", PJSC "RusHydro", JSC "Tatenergo" and executive authorities of subjects located within the boundaries of the Volga-Kama basin.

The Republic of Tatarstan was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Alexander Shadrikov and a representative of JSC Tatenergo.

The meeting discussed the issue of establishing the operating modes of the hydroelectric reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade for the period from June 11 to July 10.

Currently, a special spring release in order to ensure agriculture and fisheries of the Lower Volga, for which the resources of the Kuibyshev reservoir were used, has been completed. As of June 8, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir was 51.76 m BS, which is below the normal retaining level by 1 meter 24 cm.

Alexander Shadrikov made proposals to reduce water consumption through the Zhiguli reservoir hydroelectric unit.

According to the results of the meeting, Rosvodresurs established the mode of operation of the Kuibyshev reservoir hydroelectric unit with discharge costs of 5,000 cubic meters/s, which corresponds to the value of the total inflow of water into the reservoir.

According to forecast calculations in the coming period, the level of the Kuibyshev reservoir will remain stable with a slight decrease by July 10.

The established modes of operation of hydroelectric reservoirs are published on the official website of Federal Water Resources Agency.
