The next stage of the competition has started within the framework of the All-Russian program "Trees — monuments of wildlife" – voting for the main tree of the country.
The list of participating trees was approved by the certification commission of the All-Russian program "Trees – monuments of Wildlife", according to applications received from the heads of the executive authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Among the 69 nominees of the contest: Pushkin and Suvorov oaks, Parsnip cedar, Polenov ash, Kuznetsov pine, Pallas sycamore, Count Panin poplar, Siberian apple tree and Nurse Pear, Kuril Sage yew, birch of the Valley of Geysers, Sacred larch, the largest spruce of Fennoscandia, Leo Tolstoy chestnut and many other unique historical natural rarities, listed in the National Register of Old-age trees of Russia.
