The meeting is being held in St. Petersburg as part of the International Forum dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Representative delegations from 70 countries of the world came to the Conference. The geography of foreign delegates is impressive – from Ecuador in the west to China in the east. The delegations include high-ranking politicians, scientists, heads of energy and mining companies, as well as students and postgraduates. The largest number of participants are from China, India and Iran. The Minister of Ecology, representing the Republic of Tatarstan at the forum, read out a welcome speech from the President of Tatarstan to the participants.
The main purpose of the conference is to exchange experience in the implementation of technologies that minimize anthropogenic impact on the environment and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to develop solutions that contribute to the consolidation of the efforts of the world community in this direction. The forum will last several days. Alexander Shadrikov will take part in the work of the Conference sections.
Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Forum – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The forum is supervised by the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. The forum will be attended by Vladimir Litvinenko, Rector of the Mining University, a leading expert in the field of fuel and energy, Grigory Ordzhonikidze, Executive Secretary of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, and Alexander Beglov, Governor of the Northern Capital.
