May 11 is the Day of foundation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. The Ministry has been on guard of the natural wealth of the republic since 2001 (previously, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources). At all times, the main activity of the Ministry was the implementation of large-scale republican programs to improve the economic mechanism of environmental management, environmental protection in the republic and environmental education.

A number of violations of environmental legislation were identified during a survey of the water protection zone of the Kamyshla River of Leninogorskiy district by specialists of the South-Eastern Territorial Administration of the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan and representatives of the Executive Committee of Leninogorsk town. Violators of environmental legislation are fined, the facts of non-compliance with nature conservation rules must be eliminated within the prescribed period.

A regular meeting of Interdepartmental Working Group on regulation of the operation of reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade was held today in Moscow at the Federal Agency for Water Resources. The position of the Republic of Tatarstan to the participants of the meeting was conveyed by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Aleksandr Shadrikov. After listening to him, members of the Commission of the Assembly of Workers' and Regions of the Volga-Kama Cascade decided to agree on the levels of the reservoirs.
