On May 20, 2015, the events devoted to the Day of Volga will be held in Nikolskoe village of Laishevo district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The holiday is carried out by the UNESCO department “Development of fundamental principles of the Earth Charter to create sustainable community” under the Institute for the Problems of Ecology and Subsurface Resources Management of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan with support of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan. In the framework of the Day of Volga, an open ecological “Academic lesson” will be held for pupils of Kazan and Laishevo by scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan Federal University. Practical training with pupils regarding methods for drawing and analysis of water samples, data on deposits and soils, as well as visiting of the museum of Russian Folklore “Caravon” are also planned.

Today, inspectors of the State Ecological Surveillance under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan organized a raid to Vysokaya Gora district of Tatarstan in compliance with address of citizens to the Ministry’s hotline. The fact of illegal quarry development, namely peat, was revealed in the course of the raid near Staraya Tura village. The mineral resources were used without an appropriate license. Upon arrival to the site, inspectors found 6 KAMAZ trucks loaded with peat, two motor vehicles and an excavator. Together with fellow workers of the Prosecutor’s Office of Vysokaya Gora district and specialists of the Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Vysokaya Gora district, they apprehended offenders involved in this violation, and the latter gave their explanations. Photo and video materials were drawn up, and at present the work on identification of owners of the above indicated equipment is carried out. Ecological specialists will estimate the damage inflicted on the environment.

The work on equipment of gas filling stations with systems for collection and recuperation of motor fuel vapors go on in Tatarstan. In Naberezhnye Chelny, specialists of the Cis-Kama Territorial Department under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan familiarized with operation of the closed system for discharge of oil products at the gas filling station of “Iskhad-А” LLC. The system implies collection of fuel vapors from reservoirs and fuel-dispensing units into road-tankers for further removal of vapors and their recuperation at oil delivery terminals.

In the course of the first stage – up to the end of 2015 — facilities for supply of oil products carry out work on equipment of gas filling stations owned by them within the time limits of the approved programs.

On May 14, 2015, inspectors of the State Ecological Surveillance under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan prevented the fact of illegal extraction of mineral resources near the village Staraya Tura of Vysokaya Gora district. On May 16, 2015, inspectors organized another raid, in the course whereof a recurrent violation of quarry development, namely peat, without an appropriate license was revealed. On the exit from the quarry KAMAZ trucks, a GAZ vehicle and a shovel crawler were apprehended. Police officers of the Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Vysokaya Gora district withdrew registration plates of machines. With regard to the fact of violation of the nature protection legislation in the field of mineral resources use, fellow workers of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan referred the documents to the Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Vysokaya Gora district to initiate criminal proceedings.

An offsite meeting of the Interdepartmental Permanent Workshop on Ecological Safety Assurance was held today in Nizhnekamsk in the course of development of Nizhnekamsk industrial hub. The meeting was held by the Minister for Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Artem Sidorov.
