The Republic of Tatarstan has been actively participating in the execution of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 2013 for a number of years. "On reducing greenhouse gas emissions". As a result of the implementation of a set of measures aimed at reducing the carbon footprint, a steady positive trend has been observed in the republic for a number of years to reduce the formation of greenhouse gases. Despite this, work in this direction continues. For example, in 2022, on the basis of Kazan Federal University, it is planned to create a carbon landfill for the development and testing of carbon balance control technologies.
This year, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, an interdepartmental working group on climate policy and decarbonization plans of the Republic of Tatarstan began to operate, the main goals of which are to find solutions to reduce the impact of the carbon footprint by compensating for it, as well as the development of technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.
