Rustam Minnikhanov: "The issues of ecology and environmental management are always relevant for us." The work of ecologists in 2017 and tasks for 2018 were discussed today during the meeting of the Cabinet of the Republic

Today the extended meeting of the Joint Final Board of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Department of the Federal Service for environmental supervision in the Republic of Tatarstan "On results of work in 2017 and tasks for 2018 " with the participation of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov and the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation - Head of the Federal Service for supervision in the field of nature management, A.G. Sidorov  "We managed to make much more than was  planned", - reported on the work the Minister of Ecology of RT Farid Abdulganiev. To reduce emissions from motor transport in Tatarstan 1000 units of buses and special machinery were converted. The green belts have been created around cities and settlements, protecting from industrial impact. More than 20 million trees were planted. More than 1 hectare of the land, contaminated by oil in the 80s of the last century, was recultivated in Buinsk.  More than 5 tons of spent batteries were collected and recycled in 2017. "In the current year 100 special containers for collection of mercury lamps and thermometers will appear in Tatarstan", - the Minister reported. Due to the work, coordinated with municipalities it was liquidated about 1799 illegal landfills, which is 97% of the total number of the identified ones. In total, over 6.5 thousand violations were suppressed according to the results of the supervisory activity, 21 criminal cases were initiated. It was collected fines and damages in the amount of 186 mln. RUB, which is by 30% more than in 2016. The amount of the prevented environmental damage amounted to 1.7 billion RUB. "It is necessary to observe the balance between the development of production and preservation of the environment," - said the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The Republic of Tatarstan is one of the most developed industrial regions of the Russian Federation, with a high volume of gross product, he noted.  The President made a special accent on the high environmental responsibility of industrial enterprises. First of all, the group of companies "Tatneft" and group of companies "TAIF" , "KAMAZ", Transneft - Kama. Reconstruction of biological-treatment facilities of  "Nizhnekamskneftehim" allowed to improve the state of the environment of the city of Nizhnekamsk. In general, the republic has improved the environmental situation in cities and towns, the systematic work on supervision and provision of environmental management was carried out. All this was achieved thanks to coordinated and collaborative work.
