Applications accepted for participation in city stage of All-Russian competition “My Little Homeland: Nature, Culture, Ethnicity”

It has started receipt of applications for participation in the city stage of the All-Russian contest “My Little Homeland: Nature, Culture, Ethnicity”. The organizers of the contest are the Kazan City Education Department and the City Children's Ecological and Biological Center together with environmental organizations. It can be participated by students of educational organizations of Kazan aged 12 to 18 years, showing interest in studying and preserving the natural and cultural heritage of their small homeland.

The contest for students aged from 14 to 18 years is held in the following categories:

- Humanitarian and environmental studies (educational and research works devoted to the history of the relationship between ethnos and nature, reflection of nature in the ethnos culture, as well as the influence of ethnic, religious, and other traditions on attitude towards nature and nature management);

- Traditional culture (works on reproduction of items of material culture – clothes, utensils, food products using natural materials, work to preserve and reproduce the phenomena of non-material culture: songs, dances, games, rituals;

- Publicism in defense of nature and culture (articles, essays, novels, and other journalistic works dedicated to the problems of the complex preservation of cultural and natural heritage and expressing a personal understanding of the problem of the relationship between the life of the ethnos and the natural environment);

- Ecological and local lore guides (environmental and local lore guides and descriptions of routes, introducing the cultural and natural heritage of the small homeland);

Students aged 12-13 can take part in the nomination: “The living symbol of a small homeland” (artwork in which the author represents the “living symbol of a small homeland” and the written justification for its choice (composition), where it is necessary to ground what is its unique or characteristic for the region, interesting facts, connection with local traditions and the life of people, etc.).

Works in paper and electronic form along with with the application form should be sent before December 15, 2017 to the Organizing Committee of the contest, the address: Kazan, Kosmonavtov str. 57, with the indication “Contest “My Little Homeland”. The works of the winners of the municipal level will pass to the next stage of the contest.
