21 December 2023, Thursday

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan hosted a scientific and technical council chaired by Deputy Minister of Ecology Olga Manidicheva. The council members reviewed project proposals for the technology of neutralization and disposal of accumulated industrial waste in the village of Novy Kokshan and discussed monitoring and assessment of the quality of surface waters of the Blue Lakes system.

As a result of the activity of the Kokshan Chemical Plant from 1850 to 1925, industrial waste dumps were formed 300 meters northwest of the village of Novy Kokshan in the Mendeleevsky district. The developers have proposed a method for their neutralization. The members of the scientific council discussed the proposed project during the discussion, made comments and suggestions.

The members also reviewed the Blue Lake monitoring program. The Institute of Ecology and Subsoil Use is developing a program, according to the results of which scientists will assess the current state of the lakes. Monitoring involves conducting hydrobiological, hydrochemical and a number of other studies.

It should be recalled that the Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov spoke during the live broadcast about the scientific work in the framework of the study of the Blue Lakes of Kazan. On behalf of the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan will become the coordinator of the discussion on the issue of maximum anthropogenic load on Blue Lakes.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Olga Manidicheva congratulated all members of the Scientific and Technical Council on the upcoming New Year and thanked the scientific community for their support and active participation in all projects in the field of ecology.
