More than half a million seedlings were planted in Nizhnekamsk district in two years

1 June 2023, Thursday

The spring planting cycle of coniferous and deciduous species seedlings has been completed in Nizhnekamsk district within the framework of SIBUR's long-term forest-climatic program "Green Formula". In just two years of the program's implementation, the company planted 583 thousand seedlings on land plots with a total area of almost 170 hectares.

The "Green Formula" program includes mass planting of tree species with optimal carbon dioxide absorption potential (oak, cedar, linden, rowan, pine), conducting volunteer campaigns, cooperation with school forestry and care activities at the planting sites of previous years.

The main volume of plantings is carried out by employees of the Nizhnekamsk Forestry on forest plots in the area of the Sobolekovsky highway. Forestry specialists, in agreement with the company, also carry out care measures aimed at ensuring high survival of seedlings.

Additionally, volunteer campaigns are held with the active participation of employees of Nizhnekamskneftekhim, children from the school forestry of the Nizhnekamsk district "Forest Brothers" and residents of the city. The Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Tatarstan supports environmental initiatives of enterprises responsible for nature users. Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov in particular noted:

"I am glad that environmental campaigns of industrial enterprises of the republic are becoming systematic events. New initiatives are emerging - this is how the spring cycle of planting coniferous and deciduous seedlings in the framework of SIBUR's long-term forest-climatic program "Green Formula" has ended in Nizhnekamsk district. In just two years of the program's implementation, the company planted 583 thousand seedlings on land plots with a total area of almost 170 hectares. This is a good result - after all, forest plantations have become the largest voluntary business landings in Nizhnekamsk over the past few years. It is also important to remember that mass tree planting is one of the promising ways to fight for carbon neutrality, because the forest is a key element in the system of greenhouse gas absorption and carbon regulation."
