In his speech, the head of the environmental protection agency spoke about the federal project "Clean Country" launched last year, for the implementation of which Tatarstan was allocated 834 million rubles. These are the elimination of oil-contaminated land in the village of Shemordan in the Sabinsky district and dump pile in Menzelinsk - the work has been completed at two sites. Also, the main amount of work was carried out on the reclamation of the dump pile of rubber products in the village of Prosti of the Nizhnekamsk district; the biological stage is still to be completed.

"To date, 82 % of treatment facilities do not meet the established standards. The annual damage caused to water bodies is estimated at more than 650 million rubles, " the Minister of Ecology Alexander Shadrikov informed at the final board meeting. In total, 181 treatment facilities of various forms of ownership operate in the republic, of which 131 discharge into water bodies. "In the specific weight, the share of 10 treatment plants accounts for 87% of the total volume of wastewater discharge. Of these, 42% is discharged from the treatment facilities of the "Vodokanal" Municipal Unitary Enterprise in Kazan. Reconstruction of these treatment facilities is already included in the federal program "Improvement of the Volga". Work on this program will begin this year, - said Alexander Shadrikov.
