Use of geographic information systems to ensure the environmental safety of Tatarstan was discussed in Nizhny Novgorod

Today within the framework of the International Scientific and Industrial Forum “Great Rivers”,  the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, Aleksandr Shadrikov, made a report on the use of geographic information systems to ensure the environmental safety of the republic in Nizhny Novgorod.

GIS “Ecokarta RT” includes 26 subsystems, Aleksandr Shadrikov elaborated on some of them in more detail. He told the meeting participants how to monitor sites for unauthorized disposal of wastes, about licenses for the use of subsurface resources and approvals for the use of subsurface resources for their own needs, water protection zones and specially protected natural territories.
